About Me
I’ve called Ocean City home for more than 20 years. My wife Donna and I have been married almost four decades, and this is where we chose to raise our two sons — both Ocean City High School graduates and state surfing champions. Today, we’re grateful to be enjoying life as grandparents, and I’m proud to support Donna in her work running a local charitable thrift shop.
Over the course of a 40+ year career, I’ve helped lead complex projects involving land use planning, zoning, financial oversight, and long-term strategic growth. My work requires collaboration with local officials, residents, and business leaders to develop solutions that strengthen communities. In each and every project, I start by listening to what each community wants and needs so we can offer solutions rooted in common ground. I also am active as a community volunteer here in Ocean City, advocating for leadership that advances the principles of collaboration, transparency, and integrity.
Most mornings around sunrise, you can find me out surfing (no matter the weather!). Ocean City isn’t just where I live. It’s the community where we built our life, raised our family, and formed lifelong friendships.
Some of my local community involvement
Ocean City Boardwalk Subcommittee
Former leader, Ocean City 2050
Past President, Churchville Nature Center
Former Member, Northampton Township Historic Commission
Through my work on the Boardwalk Subcommittee and Ocean City 2050, I’ve pushed for greater transparency, more public input, better communication, and civil, respectful dialogue about the future of our town. I’m also committed to smart environmental stewardship and keeping the heritage and culture of Ocean City vibrant and family-friendly.
As an engaged citizen I’ve worked to hold City Council and the Mayor accountable, but I’ve equally been committed to respectful engagement and suggestions of solutions, not just criticism. I’d bring the same approach to my work on the City Council.
Professional Experience
For 43 years, I’ve been building communities. I’ve worked in executive leadership roles in finance, operations, development, and business strategy. I believe Ocean City’s government should be run with the same accountability, openness, and fiscal discipline that is expected in successful businesses.
In my current position as Vice President of Erickson Senior Living, I help lead complex projects involving land use planning, zoning, financial oversight, community building, and long-term strategy. My work requires bringing together government officials, residents, and business leaders to find practical solutions that work for everyone.
In addition to my work in strategic development, at Erickson I’ve also been past chair of the company’s Diversity Council, and I’m a current member of our Sustainability Council.
I’m also the proud assistant and Chief Schlepper for my wife Donna’s Ocean City thrift shop which supports domestic animals and wildlife.
“Jim is skilled at finding common ground among people with varying perspectives. He seeks to understand what is important to people and develops solutions that deliver long- term success.”
